Snowmen!

I found the instructions for these snowmen on Betz White . As usual, I do not have any wool on hand but I decided it was a great way to use up some while felt that was taking up space in my basement. I made the scarf and hat out of red polar fleece. I ran out of orange wool balls so i had to use a large wooden button on one of them. They turned out great and are going to be teacher gifts this year.

More Christmas Cards

Here is the set of Christmas cards that I made. I found the original idea HERE . Of course, I changed the basic idea some because I don't like to completely copy someone elses hard work. But her card was so cute that I wanted the ones I made to look pretty close to the original. I used paper I already had on hand and because I will be mailing out these cards I did not tie the ribbon because it is too bulky in the envelope.

Stamp: Fluffles Garland #N221 by Stampendous - I got it at Hobby Lobby

Ribbon: Grograin Brdeau S #3097 - I think it came from Michaels

Paper: Basic Gray - Fruit Cake - it was left over from some scrapbook page. Except for the paper with the words on it, i'm clueless about who made it and where i got it.

The oval is cut with the Cricut at 4" using George and the outside layer is also 4" but on shadow.

Christmas Card

If you know me then you know that I start making Christmas cards in early fall. I usually make 2-3 differerent kinds of cards. This is if the first. I got the idea from HERE. I really like the colors used and I love the stamp. I made changes to the card to fit my style. It was a messy project and my kitchen is covered in glitter. My son has started calling me Sparkle.

Paper: The Paper Company - Ice Blue 10205-027
Stamps: Rubber Stampede - Santa Collage 3408F
Ink: Brilliance Pigment ink - Lightning Black BR-95
Ribbon: Red and Silver both came from Walmart
Embossed the background with the cuttlebug using the snowflake folder
Glitter: Magic Scraps Glitter - dark Silver - IMHO I think their glitter is the best glitter. It has the best sparkle.

Battlestar Galactica

I know have not posted in ages. It has been busy around here. And sad to say, but this post is not even about scrapbooking. stamping, sewing or crafting - lol. It is to say:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA STARTS TONIGHT!!!. I gave up watching TV when the writers went on strike, and have not intention of starting again with the exception of this show. I love it.

On a side note: My dad, my brother and I all used to like to watch Farscape too. My mom hates Sci-Fi and would call it "Far Cry" instead. I wonder what she calls Battlestar Galactica? I will have to ask her - lol.

Ok, now back to our regular programming. I do have some pages to post, but it will have to wait until this weekend.

Easter Bunny

I made this bunny as an Easter present for a little girl that I know. The tutorial can be found on Betz White. I make it out of cream velvet. I thought the velvet would be so soft and I was right. However, velvet is a huge pain in the butt to work with, it frays, it shifts when sewing, the seams come apart. I had to pin the fabric then baste the pieces together and then sew it up. Then I realized I forgot the ears, so I ripped apart part of the head and put the ears in and resewed it up. Then I started to stuff the bunny when I realized the front foot seam had frayed loose. I was ready to scream (I think that maybe I actually did scream!) I sewed the front foot up again, and now I can see from the photo on the left; the hind foot has a loose seam too. To bad, I already gave it to the little girl. Her mom can try and fix it. *grin*
Below is one I made out of wool for my daughter for Easter. The velvet is going back in my stash until I decided to use it for another project - which will probably be when I forget how much I hated working with it on this one - lol. I like the wool one much better. The tail is a felted Ball that I made. Look on Betz Whites blog (link is above) and she has a link to Martha Stewart on how to make felted balls. It's pretty darn easy!

This bunny is for my son, I think he secretly wants a bunny but he does not want it to be "cutesy". I stuffed it too full of pellets. I will have to let some out so it will sit correctly. This bunny is made of pink and navy wool. It's my own pattern, if I ever make another one I have some ideas to make it look better and easier to sew. His tail is also a felted ball.

Spring Easter Tote

I saw this tote on Betz White blog and fell in love with it. So of course I had to make one. Mine is not out of felted wool instead I made it out of cream felt that I had stashed. The leaves are wool but the flowers are felt. I think I went a little flower heavy but the flowers were fun to make do so I made a lot. I think I am going to make one for me & one for my daughter - it will be her Easter basket this year.
I did not line it but I made a card board bottom and glued felt on one side so that the bottom is a little more sturdy and does not buckle when something is put in it.

Pillows, Pillows, Pillows!

I made these pillows! I am silly-proud of myself. The teal pillow on the right has bead fringe and I had to sew the whole pillow by hand because my sewing machine could not get close enough to the edge without running over the beads. I made the tan pillows about 10 years ago but I am going to keep them since they look good with the other colors. I am finally getting around to thinking about decorating our guest room . Hey, we have only lived in the house 3 years, it's about time don't ya think? Anyway, I am going to paint 3 walls a light brown and the wall with the bed is going to be teal. I think with all the strong colors in the room I am just going to put up sheers on the windows (over the blinds). I think it's going to look great.

Birthday and Valentine's Day Card

A Valentine's Day card using A cat stamp from the
The Cat's Pajama's
And a birthday card for a friend. The stamp is from
Stamping Bella.
I also got the basic idea for the card from another blog but cannot remember where. I changed a lot of things on it but kept the basic sketch.

Valentines Cards and Happy Coffee

Gracie likes to have coffee with us in the mornings. She truely seems to like the flavor of it. Sunday morning she was drinking it and announced "Mmmmm Coffee! It makes Me Happy"! Of course, since I forgot to give her decaf she was bouncing off the walls for a while.

Grace and Nick had to make valentines for their class parties this week. Grace's were made out of paper doilies and paint and crayons. I will post those later. Nick asked a girl in his class to be his Valentine and she accepted! He wanted to make her a "Special" card. He used the Alligator from Animal Valentines by Stampin' Up and we attached a lollipop to the alligator's hand. He wrote Be My Valentine at the bottom. I think his Valentine will like it.

I am SO bummed!

I just found out that Battle Star Galactica starts up again in March with Season 4 and I was so excited then I found out that this is going to be the last season. As far as I am concerned it is one of the best shows out there. I am going to miss this show when it is gone.
Check out the Promotional Trailer.

Yes, I know, I am a Sci-Fi geek and proud of it!

Went to a crop Saturday night!

I need to add the names on this one (below)

Old Things

Some old things that will be added to the Heritage album I am working on. The doll head was given to my Mom's sister Mary Kathleen, she died of cancer when she was 5. The original owner of the doll died of Diptheria. From what my mom says, the body of the doll had to be burned.

The glass slipper was given to me when I was a baby by a friend of my Grandmother's. The Green Girl was given to my Grandmother as a birthday present at some point in her life. The cow bell was used by my Grandparent's in their store on the door. The Elephant was also belonged to my Mom's sister. My mom and I kind of got into a little argument about the Elephant. I am pretty sure there were two of them but she insists there was only one. I'm sure I'm right! Right?

Believe it or not- my mother used this on her hair. They did not have electricity until they moved off the farm when my Grandparent's bought a store in a small town. And the reason for documenting these? My daughter is going to get them someday and I want her to know a little bit about their history.

Busy, Busy, Busy

More heritage photos. I did 5 pages this weekend!

Another Layout

Appleman Family Photos. I could not get the right angle so the ribbon would not produce a shadow.

I'm on A Roll!

Two more pages done! My goal is to do at least one page a day. I have been doing pretty good lately. These are my grandparents on my mothers side. They were married over 50 years!

Did some scrapping this afternoon!

These two pages are about my Grandmother Shirley Josephine Kent. She hated having her photo taken and in almost all of the photos she is holding a hankerchief. From what I remember, she always carried one. The colors are a little off, it was a bad time of day to take the photos of the pages.

Kickstand Birthday Card

I found directions to make a "Kickstand Card" at Kirsten's blog: Confessions of a Naptime Stamper. The card is also a sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers. I am not adding my card to the gallery there because I basically used Kirststen's idea and just changed it a little and I don't think they or she would want that there. I needed to make a birthday card and the one she had on her blog fit the bill. I had some bright paper on hand (from American Craft) that would be great as a birthday card. I thought the candle was a cute idea so I added it to my card as well. A very easy card, I can see why she likes to make them. I made some extras to have on hand. The birthday stamp is from Stampin Up! But I could not find the box with the name. The inside stamp is from a grab bag of unmounted stamps I got almost 8 years ago - The kind of purple-ish paper that I used to mat the circle paper is really blue but when I took the photo it came out purple and no amount correcting it on Adobe would get it blue. Grrr.
